Irritable bowel syndrome is a debilitating functional gut disorder estimated to impact 1 in 5 Americans. The low FODMAP is a new therapy and is being modified regularly due to new food analysis. This topic will provide the most recent research for applying the low FODMAP diet, an evidenced based nutrition therapy that can improve symptom management for those who suffer with IBS.

Through this 1 hour webinar, participants will learn to:
1. Detail the latest research on the low FODMAP diet
2. Describe how FODMAPs impact GI symptoms
3. Name suitable and non-suitable sources of corn, soy, tomato and dairy for the low

Kate Scarlata, RD, LDN is a Boston-based private practice registered dietitian with over 25 years of experience in the nutrition and wellness field. She earned her Bachelor in Science from Simmons College and her postgraduate training was completed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Kate is the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Well with IBS (Penguin 2010) and the coauthor of the New York Times Best Seller, 21 Day Tummy (Reader’s Digest 2013). Kate specializes in digestive health nutrition and her focus has been to increase awareness of the role of the low FODMAP diet for functional gut disorders in the US and abroad. As an internationally known FODMAP expert, Kate shares her expertise as an invited speaker to numerous GI symposiums, via professional trade journal articles, continuing education workshops, webinars; self-study programs for dietitians and social media via global twitter chats. Her educational blog, Well Balanced, provides key FODMAP handouts utilized throughout the globe. She is currently involved with the Monash University FODMAP research team in an international food analysis study.
