The presentation will introduce nutrition professionals to the tenets of cultural competency and humility and explore how embracing these concepts can empower them to connect with their clients more effectively. It will enhance their ability to appreciate the complexity of cultural norms and their impact on clients’ decision-making regarding food choice and other behaviors. Through self-reflection exercises, attendees will become more aware of any biases that may impact nutrition interventions. Lastly, increasing one’s cultural awareness and appreciation adds richness to their own world perspective.
